Cloudwerk
A project about pulling work out of a monolith and into workers.

- extraction
Cloudwerk is the portfolio story of a system becoming less of one big thing and more of a set of workers with jobs they can actually own.
Why I built it
Some systems become a monolith because that is the shortest path to getting the next useful thing done. Eventually, the shortest path starts charging interest. Cloudwerk is about the moment where extraction becomes the more honest shape of the work.
The idea / architecture
The core image is a monolith separating into workers. That is intentionally a story about boundaries and responsibilities, not a claim that splitting things up is automatically virtuous. The useful question is which work can leave the center without taking the whole place down with it.
What it became / current state
This portfolio entry is about the project and its architectural story. It is not a replacement for the documentation at cloudwerk.dev; the latter is documentation, while this is the more candid account of why the thing exists and how it changed shape.
There is also an acquisition-plan joke in the background: if somebody acquires it, excellent; if nobody does, it still makes a useful project. A contingency plan with a sense of humor is still a plan.
Notable details
- The visual direction follows work moving from a monolith into extracted workers.
- Concrete dates, deployment details, and links are intentionally absent until confirmed by the inventory.
